Situation:

Institutions of higher learning often lack the expertise to develop and maintain clear, concise, and useable plans and procedures for when an emergency occurs involving students or staff abroad.

Need:

Having a plans is the first step in a successful response to an incident abroad. Institutions of higher learning must develop clear and actionable incident action plan which includes - at a minimum - the following:

  • Incident Action Plan
    • Crisis Communication
    • Evacuation 
    • Recovery 
    • Third-Party Response Plans

Solution:

The Prepared Abroad team will assist stakeholders within the institution to develop clear, concise, and actionable plans to respond to incidents occurring abroad. Utilizing a toolkit of best practices from public and private best practices, Prepared Abroad is uniquely prepared to develop and assist institutions in the implementation of an effective response plan.

Institutions of higher learning are prepared to respond quickly and compassionately to their students and staff following an incident. Study Abroad Incident Action Plans ensure institutions are following the appropriate measures to provide duty of care, proper incident investigations, and safe evacuations of students if necessary.
